I needed something to write on this morning so I grabbed an old notebook that had a marker in it. Inside I had scribbled a bunch of little quotes and thoughts of inspiration. Reading back on these really took me to a place of happiness and helped me solidify everything that is going on in my life. Corny as they may be I thought I would share these with you.
Treat yourself how you want people to treat you What you resist will persist There IS enough good to go around Imagination is everything. It is a preview of life's coming attractions -Einstein Only dwell on the end result Visualize=materialize Whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve. Follow your bliss this one is my favorite when you have an inspired thought you have to trust it, you have to act on it!
Im so happy and fortunate to be where I am today. I have a great job working with people I really enjoy being around and I have a ton of things that I'm really passionate about, the list of my passions is probably a mile long (which isnt always a good thing! haha)

This piece is actually my favorite. Craig took some pictures outside of his hotel room in San Diego in January, so I blew up the buildings in one of the pics and put them into the painting. I think Craig will like it :)

Okay! Now I can finally reveal what my top secret project was! In all actuality it wasn't such a big deal, just a little surprise for the mommies in North Carolina.
TaDaaaa! Each mommy received an 8 oz bottle of lotion (botanical orchard/nectar), a soy candle, homemade fudge and a necklace! It was a lot of fun making everything especially the necklaces. Here's a little peek at what they looked like. (sorry the pics aren't great here)
I molded and torched each one! They're fine silver which is just a little better than sterling silver, I think its 99.9% silver instead of 97.3%.
and yes, the torch was scary! haha
I just wished that we took more pictures of the time we spent with everyone. We spent most of sunday with my parents in cramerton, seeing the house and eating chinese. yummy! The house looks awesome, its going to be incredible when they're finished. And that night we played mini golf with Debbie (and she kicks our butts) and had dinner at Mcalister's. Spent the night at Sean's and spent monday with Steven and Amber. They're soo much fun :) Amber and I TOTALLY almost beat them at spades. almost.
I took some pretty amazing pictures sunday night that I'll have to post later after I edit them a little.
Happy Mother's Day!!!
((so what if its a little early))

On tonights menu: homemade spaghetti and meatballs
Okay for the meatballs you'll need: 1 egg 3/4 cup soft bread crumbs 1/4 cup chopped onion 2 tbs chopped green pepper 1/4 tsp dry oregano salt, to taste (i dont use much) 12 oz ground beef
Basicly what you'll do is mix all of the ingredients together and form them into little balls. Place them on a baking sheet and cook them in the oven at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Just keep your eye on them, sometimes they cook quicker and sometimes slower depending on the size of the meatball! And if you'd like a healthier alternative you can use ground turkey, which Craig also likes. *I actually have never tried these but Craig says they're the best ever!*
And for my FAVORITE homemade sauce you'll need: 1 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup chopped green pepper 1/4 cup celery (i dont always use) 2 cloves minced garlic 1 tbs cooking oil 6 large tomatoes peeled and chopped *you can use two 14.5oz cans, but fresh tomatoes are better! 1 6-oz can of tomato paste 2 tbs fresh parsley (less if its dried) 1 tbs oregano 1 tsp sugar (SECRET ingredient!! very important!)
First you'll need to cook up the onions, peppers, garlic, and celery in hot oil until they're nice and soft. Stir in the tomatoes and the tomato paste. Then mix in 1/3 cup of water, all of the herbs ((you can just use an italian blend if you dont have individual herbs, its really all the same)) sugar, salt and black pepper. Bring every thing to a boil and then reduce the heat. Cover it and let it simmer for about 30 minutes and them uncover it and simmer for about 10-15 mintues. yummy!!
Here's a trick for peeling tomatoes: make sure you have nice ripe tomatoes-cut an "x" across the top of each one and place in a bowl. Now, bring some water to a BOIL and pour over tomatoes. Let them sit for about 5-6 minutes and you'll be able to see the skin start to peel of itself. Presto!

okay so its been kind of a rough day...which sucks because its Craig's first day off in about a month. so what do you do when you're down?? eat mexican food, of course!
Just made the salsa which is to die for... 1 can (14.5 oz) of tomatoes 4 tbs. jalapenos juice of 1 lime (very important!) 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp cumin 1/2 cup onion (sometimes i use more)
*mix everything into the blender and just puree it...yum-o! seriously. its a little spicy because of the jalapenos so you can use less.* i'm having a rice wrap with tomatoes and mexi cheese, and craig will have a fajita with peppers and onions... spice it up!

Alright!! So today has been pretty exciting! I got my batch of wax in a day early (yay!!) which got me started on my candles.
There's definitely a learning curve, but its been pretty fun! They even sent me a free scent with my purchase which smells AMAZING, seriously. It could most def be my favorite of all of them. Botanical Orchard and Citrus (I think thats right...) yummy. It's also good for the bath products. I've been in love with this soy wax ever since we started carrying our soy candles at PB (which I later learned they aren't 100% soy...) Well, mine are 100% all natural soy candles, and are vegan friendly. Soy candles are great because they last three times longer than petroleum-based candles, have an incredible scent throw and are virtually soot free.
All of my candles will be available in all of my scents, which you can find on the 'shop' part of my site, and will be available in a square votive size and a square 3X4.5'' size. I'll have them posted to the site and my etsy page soon!

So here's the plan.
Do what you want... Keep moving... Eat Healthy... Be Happy...
It actually really is that simple. Craig and I have found the secret to happiness...okay well, to 'our' happiness! We've been super active lately. Working out, rollerblading, going for walks, which means we're watching less tv. ((that actually could be the key to true happiness, haha)) But more importantly we're doing what we want to do. Craig is learning how to play the guitar and I'm diving into any craft I can get my hands on. seriously. I've got wax and molds in the mail, I'm painting, writing, selling on etsy, and ive got some silver metal clay on the way for my next project!! I'm so excited..and we're soo happy! It's really all about having a positive attitude and just BEING happy! Just BE! **Even cute little Kennedy is happier!

Did you know....?
Plastic bags cause over 100,000 sea turtle and other marine animal deaths every year when animals mistake them for food.
There is a ''garbage patch'' in the Pacific Ocean that stretches from California to Japan!! Its over twice the size of Texas!! In some parts of this patch it is 90 feet deep! It's not just the Pacific Ocean that has been effected...you could find one of these ''patches'' in every one of our oceans.
This perhaps wouldn’t be too much of a problem if the plastic had no ill effects. The larger items, however, are consumed by seabirds and other animals which mistake them for prey. Many seabirds and their chicks have been found dead, their stomachs filled with medium sized plastic items such as bottle tops, lighters and balloons.
But you figure this doesn't actually effect you, right? Well...its does. That salmon you ate last week, or that tuna sammie you're going to make for lunch could be horribly infected from this major issue.
This is an issue that needs to be urgently addressed. We can all do our own part by taking personal responsibility to recycle, to buy reusable bags instead of using plastic ones, to maybe stop using paper towels and clean with washable cloths. ((check with your bank or credit card company to see if they have paperless billing options. Lets face it: you just throw away the statement anyways...))
"Being Green'' isnt all about the ozone or using harsh chemicals....its about saving our little friends who have to live in our oceans. The ones that have to live in our ''garbage patches''. Here is a turtle that got caught in a plastic ring when he was a baby and somehow managed live into his adulthood. I'm not so naiive to think that I'm going to change the world...or even the minds of all 5 people who read this but I like to think that I'm doing my part, and I like to think that I at opened at least one persons mind to the idea of change. I love this earth and all of it's little animals (except maybe spiders....) and I just want to help make it a better place. Thanks for taking a few minutes out of your day to read this!!

About Me
| Ashleigh Flynn |
| Lawrenceville, Ga |
I am a 20 year old vegetarian with wayyyy too many ideas bouncing through my head. I have a wonderful husband, Craig, and an adorable little puppy, Kennedy. We live in Lawrenceville, GA where we dont know a single person within 1 hour. Seriously. We have so much fun together with our random activities: rollerblading, bowling, cooking...etc. I'm hoping to start school in the spring and become a graphic designer and hopefully I can use some of that knowledge towards textiles as well. I've started my own little company called Lexington Avenue; it's a cute little project of mine where I make and sell lotions, body washes, shampoo, conditioner, and bath salts. I love it very much but I hope to embark on a few new adventures...candles, jewelry, painting, writing. who knows? Okay well, thats me. enjoy!
